March 2024 gave us a whole host of trailers for some of the most anticipated films and TV shows of 2024. And in many ways, these trailers are setting us up for an awesome Movie & TV summer.
And first up is:
1. House of The Dragon Season Two (All Must Choose a Side)
This month brought the first trailer for our favorite dysfunctional dragon family series. And from the looks of things, HBO has spared no expense.
After season one’s tragic finale, House of the Dragon season two promises an all-out war for the Iron Throne. But to win the war, each side must make their case to the Lords of Westeros (as well as the audience) on why they are the rightful ruler of the seven kingdoms.
Everyone must choose a side.
Rhaenyra Targaryen (The Black Queen) or Aegon II Targaryen (The Green Council’s King). And to help fans with this decision, HBO released a trailer for both sides.
But seeing as The Dance of Dragons (the unofficial title for the Targaryen Civil War) is infamous for tragedy, treachery, and shifting loyalties, it will be interesting to see how long everyone (fans included) stays with their chosen faction.
House of the Dragon Season Two airs on June 16th, 2024.
2. Furiosa
Every time I get a peek at the long-awaited prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, I am left stunned.
Though The First Trailer was good, the second Furiosa trailer outlines the movie’s story, zeros in on the insane action, and shows off the film’s strong cast. Not only does Anya Taylor Joy look fantastic as a young Furiosa (Charlize Theron would be proud), but Chris Hemsworth looks like he’s going to be a menacing villain.
As for the plot, Furiosa promises to tell the origin story of the young renegade warrior, while she navigates through the territory war between the biker warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and the citadel ruler, Immortan Joe (Lachy Hulme).
Furiosa comes out in Theaters on May 24th, 2024.
3. The Penguin
Another impressive TV trailer from March 2024 was The Penguin TV Series.
Following the fall of Carmine Falcone in The Batman, The Penguin TV show promises to tell the story of the rise of Gotham City criminal to power (I still can’t believe that is Collin Farrell).
The Penguin TV Series doesn’t yet have a release date, but we know it will come out this fall. And we can’t wait.
4. Alien: Romulus
I think the last Alien movie I watched was Prometheus, and it was good. But judging by its latest trailer, I think Alien Romulus will be an amazing horror thriller.
Though it’s brief, the trailer sets a brilliant tone of what will be an intense survival horror.
Seeing face Huggers jumping left, right, and center was intense, and I can only imagine how many poor souls will fall into the hands of the seven-foot-tall alien Xenomorph, quietly stalking their every move.
Alien Romulus hits Theaters on August 16th.
5. The Fall Guy
I have been hearing about The Fall Guy movie for some time now, but I never understood the interest around the film.
Until now.
The Cast alone is honestly enough for me to check out this film (I mean they had me the moment I saw Ryan Gosling with Emily Blunt). But when I saw The Fall Guy’s second trailer, it quickly became one of my most anticipated films of Summer 2024. This movie has everything from action and comedy to a crazy plot and a fantastic cast to bring it to the big screen.
After taking a year’s hiatus from stunt work, The Fall Guy sees Stunt Veteran Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) jumps back to action when the star of his ex-girlfriend’s film goes missing.
The Fall Guy hits Theaters on May 3rd.
6. Bad Boys: Ride or Die
I had no idea that this trailer was coming out this month. But I’m glad it did.
I thoroughly enjoyed the last Bad Boys Movie (it really should have been called Bad Boys 3). Yes, it was predictable, but the film managed to tell an interesting story about agent Mike’s past (Will Smith) while giving us the usual chaos and great humor expected of the franchise.
Based on its insane trailer, Bad Boys Ride or Die seems to be following in the same footsteps, as the film follows Miami’s finest as they try to clear their captain’s name while fleeing from the law.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die hit Theaters on June 7th.
7. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice finally returns.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (otherwise known as Beetlejuice 2) is a hilarious title for the sequel to the beloved 1980s horror comedy. The film’s first teaser gave us the sneakiest of peaks last week, by only showing us a glimpse of its all-star cast.
Beetlejuice officially returns to haunt us on September 5th.
8. Star Wars: The Acolyte
Last but certainly not least, is the latest Star Wars series coming to Disney Plus, Star Wars: The Acolyte
Based on the trailer, the show looks promising, and its cast is solid. It seems like The Acolyte will follow a class of Jedi younglings as they grow into Jedis and investigate the mysterious Sith acolyte causing trouble across the universe.
According to the official synopsis, The Acolyte sees a former Padawan reunite with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes but discovers the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.
Will this be the next Mandalorian? Doubtful. But I still want to see how the show turns out.
Star Wars: The Acolyte hits Disney Plus on June 4th
