If I could describe Harley Quinn The Animated Series in a word, it would be “awesome.” This show is so good, that I honestly can’t wait for the second season (Which premieres on April 3rd, 2020).

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Similar to The Birds of Prey Movie, Harley Quinn the animated series sees Harley dump The Joker to become a villain in her own right.

While the series focuses on Harley, it also features several other DC characters including the Legion of Doom, the Justice League, and the Bat-Family.

But what makes this show so good is how it recreates many of certain characters to fit its story.

The series even improves these characters (who would typically never see the light of day), into better far versions of themselves.

Harley and Her Crew (Harley Quinn The Animated Series)

Characters like King Shark, Clay Face, and even Kite Man, were not only great but also went a long way to help Harley build her new empire.

However, I prefer to see Harley Quinn in the animated series as a deep dive into Harley herself. Someone once said, “To conquer the world, you must first conquer yourself.” And for Harley, it was no different.
The series forces Harley to go back to confront various issues from her past. And through this medium, we’re given glimpses of her childhood and her teenage years.

And let’s just say by the series finale, I had a better understanding of why Harley is so messed up.

One thing I appreciated though was seeing Harley put her gymnastics and criminal experience to work. While trying to make a name for herself, Harley has to confront Gotham’s worst. And it’s only thanks to her skill (and Poison Ivy) that she’s still breathing by the series finale.

In fact, this entire series is so bloody that many characters dying in between scenes. But the worst comes, in episode 7 with the re-introduction of my new favorite character, the Queen of Fables.

But no matter how serious things got, the series never forgets it’s a cartoon. And despite numerous bodies on the floor, this amazing series always found a way to throw in some comic relief.

What I am trying to Say is, Harley Quinn, the animated series is just as funny as it is bloody.

Calling this woman extreme would be a criminal understatement. They’re moments where she took things so far, that she made Harley look sane. THINK ABOUT THAT.
